Strange! The libjpeg.so.62 is provided by libjpeg62. But, Mplayer requires libjpeg.so.8 -> libjpeg.so.8.0.1.
This is provided by libjpeg8.

Please check by;
$ ldd /usr/bin/mplayer | grep jpeg
Then install the proper library.
PS. Mine is self build.
$ldd /usr/bin/mplayer | grep jpeg /usr/bin/mplayer: /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62: no version information available (required by /usr/bin/mplayer) libjpeg.so.62 => /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62 (0xb7001000) And when I start mplayer in Konsole I get following info: mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libbluray.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Will keep it on shelf until everything is complete ;). -- Linux User 183145 using LXDE and KDE4 on a Pentium IV , powered by openSUSE 11.4 (i586) Kernel: 3.1.0-rc3-1-desktop LXDE WM & KDE Development Platform: 4.7.1 (4.7.1) 19:46pm up 1 day 8:03, 2 users, load average: 0.94, 0.71, 0.40 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
