Can I delete it from my 11.4?
Well, you can try. "zypper rm hal" and you will see what other packages will get deinstalled.
It probably has some dependencies you want to keep.
It does not hurt leaving it on the system on the other hand.
I get: The following packages are going to be REMOVED: hal ivman libthunar-vfs-1-2 libvlccore2 thunar-vfs thunar-vfs-lang xfce4-panel-plugin-cddrive xfce4-panel-plugin-places Now I don't mid loosing the xfce stuff but I'm curious about IVMAN. I seem to recall having to install that so I can access plugin devices like USB memory/disk and PC cards. But then again I see hald-addon-storage: polling /dev/sr0 (every 2 sec) and udisks-daemon: polling /dev/sr0 However its the items like hald-addon-input: Listening on /dev/input/event9 /dev/input/event5 /dev/input/event4 /dev/input/event7 /dev/input/event6 /dev/input/event3 /dev/input/event0 /usr/lib/hal/hald-addon-rfkill-killswitch /usr/lib/hal/hald-addon-leds hald-addon-acpi: listening on acpid socket /var/run/acpid.socket That worry me.
