Steve, Thanks for the ideas,
You can try with a new test user. If that works it is some (old) config. Plasma's config is in ~.kde4/share/config/plasma* – so if you move those files while plasma is shut down it should start with the default settings. If that works you could send those config files to bugs.kde.org to tell them what makes it crash.
I have tried removing these files, it does not seem to have any effect. The user is also brand new (no '.' files moved over from an existing system)
If plasma crashes it will also generate a backtrace which is useful for the devs.
Where does this end up? I am not seeing anything more then the stuff in my first post in the .xsesseion-errors file
To quit plasma you can press ALT+F2 and execute kquitapp plasma-desktop to start it you can issue ALT+F2 and execute plasma-desktop.
Hmm, It seems to restart itself right away, stopping and starting it does not seem to get me anywhere, but I will play with that more. -Jesse -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
