Hi, you might want to try: #$:~ zypper search c++ then, #$:~ sudo zypper install gcc gcc-c++ #$:~ sudo zypper install -t pattern devel_C_C++ you can also read the info with #$:~ zypper info gcc #$:~ zypper info gcc-c++ #$:~ zypper info -t pattern devel_C_C++ Since devel_C_C++ is a pattern package which holds packages needed for c-c++, you need to put '-t pattern'. Of course, you can use the GUI. Regards, Daniele Il giorno dom, 10/07/2011 alle 19.39 +0100, Tejas Guruswamy ha scritto:

Hi!
Just tried to install node.js from source* (the package available for 11.3 seems to be broken - npm doesn't install mongodb for example). However, I came up with this error:
hg@linux-gy95:~/dev/install/node> ./configure Checking for program g++ or c++ : not found Checking for program icpc : not found Checking for program c++ : not found /home/hg/dev/install/node/wscript:232: error: could not configure a cxx compiler! hg@linux-gy95:~/dev/install/node> gcc --version gcc (SUSE Linux) 4.5.1 20101208 [gcc-4_5-branch revision 167585] Copyright (C) 2010 Free Software Foundation, Inc. I'm probably missing something obvious, but I cannot figure what.
