Hi!
I have today changed Internet provider and found that Internet configuration through Yast does not work as expected on 11.3.
Previously I had PPPoE connection, now I have a direct connection to Internet. The servicemen who set up the connection obviously saw Linux for the first time so could not help.
It seemed that the IP configuration went well but the DNS servers did not work.
Any changes in Yast did not affect the problem.
After the servicemen left I succeeded to set up the network by manually deleting file resolv.conf and renaming resolv.conf.netconfig to resolv.conf.
The same problem I encountered this summer when my provider moved me from PPTP VPN to PPPoE.
It seems Yast is completely useless when configuring DNS You're hooking into a modem right? Are you using a router? My PPPoE is handled by my ISP's modem, so I shut off DHCP on the modem and use a router to distribute IP's to my internal network. Maybe your modem now does the same? If this is the case, you may have to bridge the modem.
This would mean instead of setting up an internet connection via Yast, you would just have a regular network connection and just set up network services. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
