Tab completion works fine if you don't forget either to issue a valid root command first, or use the 'kernel (hdx,y)/vml<tab>' syntax instead. Note that the Grub shell works post-boot, not just for booting, so you can test commands and syntax (e.g. for educational purposes) any time you're booted, and just need to avoid the boot command after issuing valid pre-boot commands if you want to maintain your current boot. ;-) -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
