I have so far tried
the NO_KMS bit along with adding nomodeset blacklistmodule=nouveau reboot to init 3 run the Nvidia installer listed above and just keep getting a moan about ABI and try -ignoreABI that makes no difference either ..
Ideas fixes ???

You have tried the G01 version specifically for FX cards, from the repository? Installing along with it the G01 version of the X driver?
Hi .. answer id no i was lead to believe that the ones on the repo were for the newer cards only will give it a whirl and see what happens.
