[07-28-10 16:38]: A curiosity: what is your /etc/X11/xorg.conf "Driver" setting?
I have "nvidia" here.
I have *no* xorg.conf file :^)
glxinfo reports OpenGL version string: 2.1.2 NVIDIA 256.35 direct rendering: Yes OpenGL renderer string: GeForce 7300 GS/PCI/SSE2
And, after updating kernel-default to 2.6.31.14-1-default, I just did a reboot to runlevel 3, removed the NVIDIA.xxx.bin installation, added the nvidia repo, installed the 256.35 driver and changed to runlevel 5 w/o a problem.

Where do you have picked 2.6.31.14-1-default? I ran almost daily updates, but I have never be prompted to upgrade my current kernel, though I have 11.2-update repo enabled. -- Marco Calistri - http://mcalistri.blogspot.com openSUSE VERSION = 11.2 2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop Uptime: 19:43 up 0:34, 2 users, load average: 0,07, 0,21, 0,57
