I tried to undo the instation server stuff. I removed it from rsync, http and I thought I had from ftp. vsftp.conf is the same as far as a diff from Aug last year and now. Because I could not get it to work I did a /etc/init.d/vsftpd stop and /etc/init.d/vsftpd start
It did not fix it. Some how ftp://ftp.zenez.com/ stopped working. I am at a loss for what it might have done. I also ran the FTP Server Yast2 to see if that would help. All that seems to have done is now you do not get a listing every thing times out. Any ideas on how to get this back working. I have had a few people report it and google tries to spider it and it can not. Any ideas on how to get this working are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Well some logs would be nice. Thanks,
Nothing in the logs nothing in /var/log/vsftpd.log Only thing in /var/log/messages is the stop and start.
What happens in /var/log/messages when as root you do
# service vsftpd restart
# service vsftpd restart Shutting down vsftpd done Starting vsftpd done
also what happens when you try to connect? also see if there is an ftp log in /var/log somewhere. It's been a long time since I've ran any ftp server except sftp with ssh.

I really am at a loss of what else to try especially the vsftpd.conf file
is exactly the same as it was last Aug before the fresh installation of
openSUSE 11.2. From what I can tell it was working till the sudden power
outage that lasted 3 hours so all I was able to do was shut the system
down and wait for the power to come back on as the UPS only gives me 30
minutes. I had not rebooted the system since using the yast2
Miscellaneous -> Installation Server being run. And ftp was working well.
Now I am up after the power outage and ftp fails as shown above, But
nothing in any of the logs.
