I guess you used apache2ctl when trying to start Apache. That script is supported only if you take care of the the entire config yourself. But on openSUSE, you would rather use "/etc/init.d/apache2", "/usr/sbin/rcapache2" or "service apache2". That will call a "proper" init script which makes handling Apache a breeze. It checks the config before attempting to kill Apache, makes sure that Apache has cleanly shut down, and even supports graceful restarts (in addition to graceful reload).
Thank you for the tip. I was indeed using apache2ctl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
