Guys,
I plugged in an external monitor while in kde. The monitor never really got configured so I removed it. When restarting the pager in the taskbar is twice as big as it should be horizontally, and when I click logout, the logout dialog is 1/2 visible on the far right of my screen. Something like extend monitor on 2nd display must be set, but where in the hell is it?
No only does it affect kde, but when I log into gnome, the wallpaper is so stretched, I only see the left side of it.
What did it do and how do I fix it??
The problem was caused by some ATI fglrx bug that causes AMD Catalyst Control Center to change the root settings extending your display onto the second monitor. This change effects all users. Looking at the amdcccle setting, they were all CORRECT. But, sneakily, if you toggle the display resolution down one, then toggle it back to where it was shown before, the problem magically fixes itself. #$%#$% ATI -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
