*/*/Suse 11.2 x64/KDE 4.4.2 (but has been happening since installing - fresh - 11.2) Same thing happening on a totally different (11.2/x86) PC as well. Both these used to work fine when on 11.1. Have asked this question before, and thought it had been fixed with an update, but have since been putting up with it.... If I plug a usb disk (of any sort) in, I get the usual notification, and can load it by selecting options (from Device Notifier in the KDE taskbar). So far, so good. Then, when I want to unload it, I go to device notifier, click the 'unmount/eject' option (after making DAMN SURE there is nothing holding files open on the disk - can close EVERY open app/utility) and I get a message saying "Could not unmount the device. One or more files on this device are open within an application". Now, I KNOW someone is going to come back and say there is something using it... NO, there isn't. I can then open a terminal, and just as a standard user, umount the drive with no error messages.
