We did actually fix this via online update... Begin of January.
It was also fixed by sa-update fairly quickly - I even opened the spamassassin bug myself:

I might have given false alarm by saying I was still having the issue. I was having the issue, I disabled the date in past check; since then I have been updating the system but did not enable the rule. I have the enabled the rule and no issues so far.
