Are there instructions somewhere in getting NetworkManager working again?
Hi Robert
http://en.opensuse.org/Tracking_down_wireless_problems
http://userbase.kde.org/NetworkManagement (I wrote this for KDE network management, but since it proposes back-to-back testing vs nm-applet it works just as well for your problem).
Hi Will, Thanks, this is a lot of good information. Somehow I was able to make it work, the sad part is that in openSUSE 11.1 it just worked without having to fiddle with it. Anyway, after I had the connection established using an if-up setup via YaST and used it for a while I decided to just try and switch back to NM. For some reason it now works. I used the connection I had previously configured and that didn't work and now it works. Beats me. The "cure" also survived a reboot. Oh well, it works now, moving on. Having plenty of other problems with 11.2, should not have upgraded :( Thanks for your pointers, I will bookmarks them so I can remember the next time I am having trouble. Robert
You don't say if it works with other APs - if it does, then the disappearing firmware package is probably not relevant.
HTH
Will
