I updated to 4.3.4 and found immediately that my desktop activities had decided to re-arrange themselves again. I went in to delete the rogue activity, but alas, even unlocked there is no RED X with which to remove the spare activities that have spawned by themselves. (Why is that so hard?)
At least you got a desktop! :-)
I installed 11.2, and have picked every desktop package in 11.2 to install -- and None of them are offored or come up when I log in. I get a whitish, plain login screen and then nothing, by default. I tried kdm, and I see the kde jumping icon theme after I login, but when it's done, I see an HTML readme (welcome!) and an xconsole and nothing else -- no menu options, no clicks work. desktop might as well be locked up since I can't get out of it at that point other than to power-cycle the machine (no response to CTL-ALT-DEL)...
Who knows, maybe it is hung? Sigh.
Too many things on my plate to debug it now, so it's lying fallow...
I had a similar problem on my machine with a legacy Nvidia card and had to go back to the nv driver. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
