I know this list is about openSUSE, not SLES, but I'm sure this info may be valuable to people here:
I've recently downloaded SLES11 x86_64 (2 DVDs).
I like to do net-boot installs, so I copy all the files from both DVDs to one directory. Because DVD1 has all the signature information and checksums, etc, I copy that disc in last (so the whole distribution signature overwrites the individual disc signature).
I'm a creature of habit, so to do my copy, I use rsync -avP (archive mode, keep partial copies (for resuming), give progress info, and be verbose).
Great, now I set it up to net boot by copying the relevant files to my tftproot, and I boot up a machine. And it whinges about an invalid signature..
so I go to verify the signature manually. In the merge directory, it doesn't match. WTF? On each DVD (using the keyring from DVD1, since that's the only place it is), the signatures match..
Turns out, I somehow managed to get the content file from DVD1 (as anticipated), yet rsync didn't pick up the different signature. Upon further investigation, I notice that the timestamp on each DVD is identical, and that the file is the same length. I understand that the file length may well be contrained by the content (a GPG signature), and so cannot be changed, but couldn't they have made the timestamps different? (so that rsync with default options would work)
Anyway, now I've figured it out, so this is just a heads up for anyone doing similar things..

Thanks for sharing... By the way, DVD2 only has src packages, you don't need them for regular installations... Regards, -- Ciro Iriarte http://cyruspy.wordpress.com -- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
