As shown in the following, driwer module file ipw2200 is only present in kernel version 23. Whereas the new kernel version 29 contains driver module file ipw2100 which does not seem to be compatible with my wireless card PRO/Wireless 2015ABG.
linux-326k:/lib/modules # du -a | egrep ipw2
228 ./2.6.27.23-0.1-default/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ipw2200.ko
124 ./2.6.27.29-0.1-default/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ipw2100.ko
Any suggestion or explanation to get my wireless connection back ?
Thank you in advance.
Maura

Oggetto: PS: [opensuse] why is wireless card PRO/Wireless 2015ABG not supported by the latest SuSE kernel ? A: mauede@yahoo.com, petr.uzel@suse.cz Cc: ajohansson@suse.de, andre@trusoft.co.za, opensuse@opensuse.org Data: Mercoledì 7 ottobre 2009, 17:23 PS: when we loaded by hand the driver module correct for the wi-fi we had no error and the module appeared in lsmod, but we had no changes in devices: eth1 not appeared and we can't use ifconfig on it... I supposed that even if the hand-load of module succeded, it not loaded the others modules needed for wi-fi layer to works... The question is: in our lsmod list, only the ipw2200 module is missing and if others using it are missing, by loading it they should be loaded too by system? Thanks! Angelo
