Hello Mates,
i plan to buy an new Mobilephone. I wish me an Phone, that can sync with Kontact. Which experience you have? Can anyone propose any Phone? --
I have a couple of Sony Ericsson phones (W595 and G502). They both connect very easily with openSUSE and can share contacts, calendar, tasks, up/dlownload files. The only piece it can't share are notes.
How are you doing this? My goal is to communicate these things with evolution. In fact, any solution is interesting.
That is exactly how I have been using it. Under gnome & syncing with Evolution. When I needed to replace phones I bought SE because all the internet sites I read suggested they were easy to sync with linux, and it proved to be the case. It was a while ago that I set it up, but I just did it again to make sure. Some parts in the following description may not be necessary. I am running openSUSE 11.0 and have the following components installed: bluez-gnome (0.26) bluez-libs <other bluez stuff> gnome-bluetooth (0.11) libopensync libopensync-plugin-evolution2 libopensync-plugin-irmc multisync multisync-gui multisync-evolution2 multisync-irmc and some other -plugins for both On the bluetooth applet I already had my phone bonded, so I am not sure if you need to bond first, then config, or if the config process will establish a bond. Open a terminal and type hcitool scan this will report something like Scanning ... 00:23:F1:8A:75:35 W595 00:23:4D:D2:B6:CF Photosmart C309a series then, in the terminal do sdptool browse 00:23:F1:8A:75:35 which will return heaps of stuff, but in particular look for Service Name: OBEX IrMC Sync Server Service RecHandle: 0x2008009 Service Class ID List: "IrMC Sync" (0x1104) Protocol Descriptor List: "L2CAP" (0x0100) "RFCOMM" (0x0003) Channel: 8 "OBEX" (0x0008) Profile Descriptor List: "IrMC Sync" (0x1104) Version: 0x0101 and make a note of the channel (in this case, 8). Now, start multisync-gui and add a new group. Edit this group and add new members irmc-sync evo2-sync
From memory, my testing confirmed many internet sites that notes are unsupported and should be disabled. Hence, tick the box next to notes.
When you click on each member the right pane will change to settings. For irmc-sync add the channel number and and the address for the phone. Here is my config <config> <connectmedium>bluetooth</connectmedium> <btunit>00:23:F1:8A:75:35</btunit> <btchannel>8</btchannel> </config> For evo2-sync you can select which calendar etc you wish to sync. Then, simply close the settings window and click on Refresh to sync between evolution and your phone. But First, always backup you evolution data and your phone data. If there are conflicts between the two devices multisync will ask you which one it should use. I haven't had any problems, but I know my wife has had some contacts go missing. I don't think this is a problem with multisync, but rather the way we have been usig it. Hope this helps in getting your phone connected.
