Yes, other powersaving options work with this laptop. I notice that the processor clock speed seems to get scaled and also the fans spin down (when applicable). I'd love for the system to also change the display brightness depending on power source. I'll look into xbrightness to see if this can do what I want. Incidentally, pressing the Fn + F8 or F9 key to set the brightness generates nothing, according to xev. Meaning that xev does not register any key being pressed.
