so it is said that intel graphic driver is installed by default when we have intel graphic card.
Yep.
but the perfomance of intel driver is bad. i tried it on 2 different notebooks and both could not run google earth. with ATi or NVDIA, it runs so smooth. any bright idea for me to run google earth on intel 945 GM chip without problem? i m using opensuse
I have a "Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller" on my Toshiba P105-S6207 and performance is quite good. I run GNOME wih "3D" effects enabled. I can watch video, etc... without any issues. I've never noticed a graphics performance issue (with 11.1 anyway, for awhile there was a bug in 11.0).
openSUSE 11.1, xorg-x11-driver-video-7.4-19.8.2.i586
yup i agree. i have no problem with 3D either. everything is running ok including compiz fusion, except for google earth. here is what i have on my system (opensuse 11.1):
s6420:~ # rpm -qa | grep xorg-x11-driver xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd-1.2.4_121202_4e89726-2.1.1 xorg-x11-driver-video-unichrome-20080807-12.44 xorg-x11-driver-input-7.4-11.6.1 xorg-x11-driver-video-7.4-19.8.2
My notebook is Fujitsu S6420 Lifebook.
Try to stop desktop effect / compiz before you launch google earth. regards, ---- medwinz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
