[opensuse] Help needed with translating code from Maxima to Maple

I am trying to translate a Maxima program to Maple. The Maxima program uses a function 'ev(code,diff)' for which there seems to be no direct replacement in Maple. Is there a functionally equivalent replacement for it in Maple?
