Everything worked fine in multimedia applications until I bought a new mp3 player. (A Samsung YP something) I discovered that it was an MTP device and tried to connect to it using Amarok. Amarok recognized it, but couldn't transfer files to it. It did also brick the new mp3 player.
I can't help with your sound problems, but I thought I would mention that I also have a Samsung YP-something (YP-U3). Amarok could not transfer files to it, but it certainly didn't "brick" it. You might want to try QLix or Gnomad2 to manage your file transfers.
Hopefully someone else can help with your sound problems.-- Don
Thanks Don,
I returned the "bricked" YP and bought a mass storage device in stead of the MTP device. So it's back to normal on that end.
I realize it would be hard diagnose why my sound volume is dramatically diminished after attempting an mtp connection - but perhaps someone has a hint on what packages may have become corrupted and I could try removing and re-installing them.
Thanks,
Regis
Hi, I had a problem with the sound on my computer after updates recently. I worked through all the steps given in the opensuse howto to fix sound, and none of them worked. I did get the sound back eventually, but not through a easy method. It happened again a few weeks later, again after software updates. I didn't want to go through the first process again, so I just tried to go into yast and update all software packages unconditionally. In that case, it worked to restore sound. Maybe if you try this it will work for you. Mark
