Anyone else having issues with "vlc". it worked fine 2 weeks ago but now if i run it fro the desktop, it just loads and dies without a message but if i run from the "cli" i get the following (see below). I'm using the videolan repo

What's the output rpm -q vlc libvlc2 and libvlccore0 ? vlc-0.9.8a-15.1

I somehow have the feeling that you updated one of the libs to 1.0.0 and ignoring the dependency warning it gave. I have it working now, i installed "vlc-beta" and its dependencies, and it now works if i run "vlc"

This was the problem with dependencies. I think the beta must causing misalignment with the current "stable" version =========================================================== Possibly, here's the Yast output:- #### YaST2 conflicts list - generated 2009-03-23 21:58:22 #### vlc-noX-0.9.8a-15.3.i586 requires libvlc2 = 0.9.8a-15.3, but this requirement cannot be provided uninstallable providers: libvlc2-0.9.8a-15.3.i586[VideoLan] libvlc2-0.9.8a-15.3.i686[VideoLan] [ ] Following actions will be done: do not install vlc-noX-0.9.8a-15.3.i586 do not install vlc-qt-0.9.8a-15.3.i586 do not install vlc-0.9.8a-15.3.i586 [ ] do not install libvlc2-1.0.0-2009032101.1.i586 [ ] Ignore some dependencies of vlc-noX The version is "libvlc2-1.0.0-2009031902.1", i've tried to uninstall vlc-noX thinking that it was an alternative vlc that did not require X and therefore was a separate program to vlc but that wasn't the case. ========================================================== thanks and regards Ian -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
