Earlier today I applied couple of updates. Working from memory ... * one was to some rc files to fix what was supposed to be a typo, * one was a kernel patch and there were a whole pile of KDE4 updates. On the next boot I saw and found in the logs lots (64) of ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l2convert.so' from /etc/ld.so.preload cannot be preloaded: ignored. Well it does so exist and is a valid file # ls -l /usr/lib/libv4l/v4l2convert* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 9458 Mar 4 05:28 /usr/lib/libv4l/v4l2convert.so # file /usr/lib/libv4l/v4l2convert* /usr/lib/libv4l/v4l2convert.so: ELF 32-bit LSB shared object, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, not stripped As it happens, the /usr file system is a separate file system so I can understand it being unavailable as part of the boot sequence.
