In man smartctl, the following example is given
----- smartctl --smart=on --offlineauto=on --saveauto=on /dev/hda Enable SMART on drive /dev/hda, enable automatic offline testing every four hours, and enable autosaving of SMART Attributes. This is a good start-up line for your system´s init files. You can issue this command on a running system. -----
This seems a good idea, but I'm not sure where to put it. Somewhere in /etc/init.d/ is about the closest I can get.
/etc/smartd.conf chkconfig smartd on -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
