Yes you did ;-) With nscd running you can disconnect your laptop from the network and still login with LDAP authentication. Nscd is suposed to cache need info for this purpose (but aperently don't or is broken) I't works just like a Windo$-PC diskonected from the LAN (chached info from AD)...
Ah! Well, I think that's intentional. It caches current information, and keeps tracks of the changes. Thus, if the ldap server is not available, there is no info, and the nscd will give the same info if there were no daemon. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
