[opensuse] Upgrading an AMD64

Running 11.1/64 on an Opteron 3200 dual core, .. thinking about upgrading,
as I'm starting to run into performance issues with Virtual Box
(especially since this processor does not support AMD-V).
What would folks recommend as an upgrade path? Prefer not to reinstall, ..
