Subject: [opensuse] ssh question

I'm trying to setup ssh on two systems. I want to remote in to one
system from another.

On the "host" system I have SSH running...

linux-ld60:/home/daniel # /etc/init.d/sshd restart
Shutting down SSH daemon done
Starting SSH daemon done

On the other system, I try to connect. However, i get nowhere.

kai@xwing:~/apps> ping
PING ( 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=5.66 ms
64 bytes from icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=1.19 ms

--- ping statistics ---
2 packets transmitted, 2 received, 0% packet loss, time 999ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 1.192/3.428/5.665/2.237 ms
kai@xwing:~/apps> ssh -Y -l kai
ssh: connect to host port 22: Connection timed out
xwing:/home/kai/apps #

Since you don't say "and I opened port 22 in the firewall" I suspect
you didn't. In that case, your firewall is blocking the connection.

Thanks, that did the trick.

kai@xwing:~/apps> ssh -Y -l kai
Have a lot of fun...
/usr/bin/xauth: creating new authority file /home/kai/.Xauthority
