Hello listmates, I've looked more into this issue, and I have come up with several different things that may help in troubleshooting. It appears the camera is working on Linux after all... On Thursday 25 December 2008, Joop Beris wrote:
I then tried a program called luvcview. That gives me this: # luvcview luvcview 0.2.4
SDL information: Video driver: x11 A window manager is available Device information: Device path: /dev/video0 Stream settings: Frame format: MJPG Unable to set format: Device or resource busy Init v4L2 failed !! exit fatal
Apparently, Kopete4 kept a lock on the camera when I ran luvcview. Kopete3 doesn't do this. But if Kopete4 is closed, luvcview runs normally and gives me a great looking image from the camera. So the camera is fine AND works on Linux. However, Kopete4 still gives me no video, no matter what I try. If I run it from the command line, it tells me that the video device is busy, even though no programs are using the camera: VIDIOC_DQBUF error 16, Device or resource busy VIDIOC_DQBUF error 16, Device or resource busy VIDIOC_DQBUF error 16, Device or resource busy VIDIOC_DQBUF error 16, Device or resource busy VIDIOC_DQBUF error 16, Device or resource busy VIDIOC_DQBUF error 16, Device or resource busy With Kopete4 closed, I get a good looking image in luvcview. I also get a preview image in Kopete3...but relatively poor looking. Anyone know how that can be fixed? So the problem seems to have to do with Kopete4 or KDE4, I'm sorry to say. Is this a problem in my config (and if so, where do I look?), or should I just file a bugzilla?
