Hmm, well, that was a simple thing to check. Pity my brain was apparently still on Christmas vacation.
Sure enough, I can draw just fine when I log in as another user on the same machine (at the same keyboard and mouse)
So, I must have messed up something in some configuration. Since I don't recall doing anything, is there an easy way (perhaps that reinstall!) to reset GIMP and everything it uses to factory defaults?
If you don't have extra tools, paths (in GIMP meaning), pallets, your scripts, stored in directory ~/.gimp-2.4 , then your task is easy, delete it, and on next start GIMP will recreate all. Or maybe better, to have old directory handy:
cd mv .gimp-2.4 .gimp-old24
and start GIMP. Post result.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That fixed it just fine. I was "sure" I hadn't touched anything--this is a new install, not an upgrade, although I did copy back my old home directory and contents, so I guess this folder came from the backup... However (here comes the "doh" confession)... I did buy a Wacom Bamboo tablet which didn't work at all under 10.3, and was a major reason for the upgrade to 11.0 (I tried it using the LiveCD and found it works as a mouse on "out of the box" on 11.0), Anyway, I really didn't think I'd done anything to configure it under GIMP, but frankly, I suppose I must have played prior to the upgrade and simply forgot. Sigh, I hate when people do the old "I didn't do anything and it stopped working" trick to me, so I apologize most sincerely to all. Meanwhile, many thanks for sticking with me and getting this sorted out. I'll wait a while before I ask "how do I configure GIMP to use the features of the Bamboo!!!"
