I'm sure many here agree with this.
http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/opensource/?p=295&tag=nl.e011 Well, take a look at how "normal" users use a file manager (I usually just look away, else Ill just grab the keyboard). KDE needs a beginner file manager - one that shows 3bil pixel icons for files and live animated AVI icons and that can drag-n-drop to the moon and back. With silly names like My Network and My Music. Thats how normal, non tech people "manage" files, just accept it. Now if you are a power user and you liked Konq, I agree thats bad for you. But why worry about shipped filemanagers if you are a power user? Use Krusader (like I do, Im a split panel, all keyboard driven file management guy) or something else that fit your needs. Just like most

I believe this is a symptom of a larger issue of the Window Managers (KDE and Gnome mainly) trying to do to many things. If they want to be revolutionary why dont they forget about filemanagers, browsers, video players, music players, file viewers etc. Just focus on what a WM should do, draw the screen (3D or not) keyboard, mouse translation, split screens, remote desktop, etc. Leave the rest to developers. We still sit, in 2008, with GIMP and Kate with different file-open dialog styles - thats just crazy IMHO. Ok, I said to much and is way OT.
