Did a clean install of openSuse 11 (after removing scsi devices) and so far my experience so far has ben dismal. Prepare for rant as I vent off some steam here. 1. NIC found, configured, but not started? I fixed it, but what the hell! I had to edit /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 And change STARTMODE='off' to auto But why the hell would a NIC ever be installed to not be started, and no a simple /etc/rc.d/network start or some gui option would not have fixed it. 2. I still can't get the printer to work! It even wants to load scanner drivers! Also when trying to get it to work it's way or the way I have always gotten it to work I now get a lovely cups error: cups(File)DoRequest Error: client-error-bad-request It constantly flashes "An HP all-in-one device has been detected. " . . . Sorry it is not an all in one device There is no Printer and scanner, Its is, and always has been a Hp laserjet 1100 C4224A. Just an old printer connecting via onboard I have re-installed cups and other packages, and am rebooting as I found someplace suggesting that . . . . 3. Yast has somehow gotten slower and more PITA. I feel like I am either waiting on it, or fighting with it. 4. I never had a base install of Suse go right, hell I had a basic install (9.x I think)using it's suggested particians, but what it had set up for ilo/grup(don't remember what I used at the time) it had /boot mixed w/ the swap partician. </RANT> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
