I need help with buying an external HD. I bought an Iomega eGo external 160 GB USB hard drive but it is not recognized by my os 11.0 linux only box. I thought it would work like my USB flash drives. Searching the web I found nothing about drivers but on Hardware4Linux I found that all Western Digital cards work on linux. TigerDirect has a Western Digital Firewire/USB2.0 combo about the same size.
Does anyone have a recommendation on this or any other external HD?
The drive should be using normal "USB Mass Storage" class -- no drivers or setup will be needed under openSUSE 11.0. I am thinking your issue is the drive not being formatted. FWIW I have a CoolMax brand enclosure purchased from NewEgg.com. It was cheap but the quality isn't bad. It works under openSUSE 10.3, 11.0 and all version of Windows I've tried. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
