: In another thread I mentioned that the video in Xine and Kaffeine are being affected by the openSUSE version of Firefox: if Firefox is running the video in both Xine and Kaffeine (I use both to view digital TV) is seriously affected with the video stuttering, halting, jumping while the audio is not affected. (See my thread, "Firefox, Xine and Kaffeine".)
Are you using the nvidia drivers? I have this problem and it seems to be an nvidia driver bug, it does not occur for me when using the nouveau drivers. It's also seems somewhat better with the 177.70 beta drivers.
It is the same with ATI. There was post in forums, where update to latest version helps systems with ATI cards. OK, found: http://forums.opensuse.org/pre-release-beta/394490-kde-4-1-1-hangs-spash-scr...
The problems pop up when desktop effects are enabled. If not, everything is fine with nvidia beta driver.
Thanks, Rajko, for this information. However, the problem with all this is that: (1) the copy of openSUSE I am running this time 'around is the totally what came on the 11.0 DVD and which contains, and is being upgraded, according to what openSUSE updates/upgrades using the zypper facility. The *only* difference is that I am using the packman repository for the multi-media files to be able to have the DVDs etc working correctly. Otherwise, *everything* else is coming from openSUSE repositories; and (2) I do *not* have any "desktop effects" enabled. While I *am* using KDE4.x (which is being upgraded almost on a daily basis), I do *not* have any "effects" enabled. With all this, openSUSE 11.0 - with KDE3x or KDE4x - is getting worse because now I cannot even play my favourite games (Freecell and Pysol) without problems re cards 'jumping all over the place' when clicked-on until I close down Firefox.
