Hi listmates,
I'm curious to know if there are problems with the openSUSE updater from KDE 3.5 on openSUSE 11. For at least two weeks, it has not shown updates regularly. When I manually tell it to check for updates, it says there are none. However, when I start Yast2 online updates, I can see for instance that Mozilla Firefox is available in version 3.0.1-7.2-i586, while I have 3.0.1-7.1-i586 installed. The newer version is from the openSUSE build service, from the Mozilla repo.
My question is, how come the openSUSE updater doesn't show this update? Or other available updates, like k3b, amaroK, etc.?
As a disclaimer, I don't use KDE or it's updater, so I'm basically
guessing here, but my guess would be that you have '3rd Party Updates'
turned off. Check your preferences to see if there's a check box for
that.
What's happening is that the updater probably only checks for updates
from the official openSUSE update repo, but YaST is checking updates to
applications from all available repositories that you've subscribed to.
However, the openSUSE Updater should have an option to check all repos
(as I mentioned above)
