Folks, One of the latest YOU messed up my sound which worked perfectly (for many years). My sound driver is the snd-intel8x0. I can fix sound by one of two ways: 1. run these commands(http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Sound_Card_Makes_a_Noise_After_KDE_Starts): * rcalsasound stop * rm /etc/asound.state * rcalsasound start * alsactl store2. un-install my sound driver and then re-install it. The problem is after doing so sound works fine untill the next reboot. After a reboot soundstill works about 50% of the time, the rest of the time I have to repeat this procedure again and again. How do I make this a permanent fix? Also, I noticed (around the same time I made these updates) that if I run XMMS I get the "kdeinit CheckHardware executible not found" error message. I re-installed the "desktop-data-opensuse" rpm which provides this executible but that does not solve the problem. Any idea how I can fix this?
