Hi.
On my openSUSE 11.0 Ihave a problem with hamradio software, that shall run on /dev/ttyS0
I can get it to work if being root, but not as user.
The group looks like this:
erikja:~ # ls -l /dev/ttyS0 crw-rw---- 1 root uucp 4, 64 Aug 17 17:04 /dev/ttyS0
The uucp was not present for the user, but I did add it:
erikja@erikja:~> groups users uucp vboxusers
Should the /dev/ttyS0 work now, or is there something I haven't seen/done ?
You need to make yourself (account erikja) member of group uucp. E.g. $id uid=1000(theo) gid=100(users) groups=10(wheel),16(dialout),33(video),100(users),1001(vboxusers) id uucp uid=10(uucp) gid=14(uucp) groups=14(uucp) #usermod -G 10,14,16,33,100,1001 theo Or use YaST of course.
