Hi,
I am trying to find out what unit of measurement is used for the items displayed in top above the process list. The idle and nice figures I assume are percentages of use but what about the cpu load average usage on the top right i.e. the usage in the last 1, 5, 15 mins?
the 1, 5 15, is the average number of tasks waiting for cpu each time top checked in those time periods. Its a number of tasks.
Is this also a percentage with the figure of 100.0 in any of the three fields representing full cpu usage and 2.5 only representing 2.5% of cpu usage or is it a tenth of the percentage i.e. 10.0 5.4 3.5 would represent 100% cpu use in the last minute, 5.4% in the last 5 minutes and 3.5% in the last 15 minutes?
No. Its a simple average number of tasks. Also be aware that the %CPU column is not aggregated across all CPUs, and its not unusual on a dual processor machine to see well in excess of 100%, because there is 200% available. -- ----------JSA--------- Someone stole my tag line, so now I have this rental. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
