Why can't Linux distributions be as good as Windows XP? Any thoughts?
Poor support from hardware vendors, especially ones making peripheral devices.
skx just presented the only reservation I have about recommending Linux.
And you're right, hardware support is always improving but just like any
OS, if you don't have drivers for your hardware, you are not going to
have a good experience with openSUSE.
I don't mean to be feeding the trolls (the OP, not skx) but hardware
support is a legitimate area of concern for those switching to any
different OS, even upgrading OSs. Much of the original pain of Windows
Vista was because of incompatible drivers.
To be fair, I'm not ruling out that the OP actually had a legitimate
question, but posed it wrong.
