I have been using the KDE4.1 factory repository to keep an eye on development. Sometime in the last couple of weeks an update disabled 4.1 from running. A crappy looking gui box pops up saying something about lnusertemp cannot be found and directories may be full. Well, lnusertemp is in /opt/kde3/bin but I am trying to start 4.1. Now that 4.1 has gone gold I thought it might be fixed but most of the stuff in the repository is still marked with the little lock (i.e. should not be installed) and 4.1 will not start. 3.5 still seems to work undaunted.
I'm running AMD64 bit machines. Should the factory repository still have most of the basic libraries locked?
Thanks for any direction.
I have seen lnusertemp related message before. Usually it was some missing or outdated library. I have this 2 KDE Factory repositories. Note that it is not openSUSE Factory, it is openSUSE 11.0 (as you can see): http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Extra-Apps/ope... http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSU... Except phonon package that has missing dependency, there is no locked packages, and KDE 4 is running. I'm somewhat careful when deal with KDE4. I like to test new stuff, so I can't transfer daily setup to KDE4, as it is still changing a lot. That is why: 1) I use another user, to prevent problems in case that KDE3 settings creep in KDE4. That other user has no KDE3 setup at all. 2) If there is problem, I copy current ~/.kde4 directory to ~/.kde4-001, and start KDE4 again. This is just to make sure that some old settings from previous version don't interfere with current. -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
