I've just installed OpenSUSE 11.0 on my main system. One thing I've noticed is that I cannot connect to Samba shares, as my ID & password get rejected. I tried resetting the password with smbpasswd, but am un able to. When I try as a user, I get this error message:
cli_pipe_validate_current_pdu: RPC fault code DCERPC_FAULT_OP_RNG_ERROR received from remote machine 127.0.0.1 pipe \samr fnum 0x7357! machine 127.0.0.1 rejected the password change: Error was : NT code 0x1c010002. Failed to change password for jknott
If I try to set it as root, I get this error:
Failed to find entry for user jknott. Failed to modify password entry for user jknott
Any ideas?

Does the user for whom you're trying to change the password actually exist as a samba user (i.e. in /etc/samba/smbpasswd)? Try adding the user using smbpasswd -a <username>, then set the password when prompted. -- =================================================== Rodney Baker VK5ZTV rodney.baker@iinet.net.au =================================================== In Lexington, Kentucky, it's illegal to carry an ice cream cone in your pocket.
