I recently did a fresh installed Open SUSE 11 with KDE 4.0 and then moved my home directory back into place. I assumed that things like KOrganizer and KAdress book would pull in information from their 3.5 data stores. This only partly happened. KAdress book pulled in some but not all of the information on my contacts (it ignored/lost a bunch of phone numbers at least -- which are still available when I open up the 3.5 version). KOrganizer pulled in a grand total of nothing.
How do I tell them to migrate this data over? Why did it not happen by default?
KDE3 applications store their data in ~/.kde, while KDE4 applications
currently default to ~/.kde4 - you need to manually copy over the config and
data files for the respective application (and hope they are still recognized
- not sure if the format has changed between versions). For Korganizer, you
could try to copy the default calendar file .kde/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics
to .kde4/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics. For KAdressbook, try copying the
default address file .kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf into the same location in
the .kde4 directory tree.
