I'm trying to work with an Express34 esata controller (uses the sil24 chip and driver). If the card and drive are in when the laptop boots, the drive is seen and is usable. If you boot then try to insert the card, the drive is not seen. Manually loading sata_sil24 does not help. I've tried this on two different laptops, 1 with intel and ati chips, the other is AMD with Nvidia chips. Running scanpci after inserting the card in a running system show that the card is seen, but no driver is loaded nor is it shown in lspci. I have found other forum messages about having pciehp loaded, but this has not helped. Anyone have any suggestions?
