Without having to use pipes by using: NewName="${i// /}" The construct: ${VARIABLE/<STRING>/<REPLACEMENT>} replaces only the first instance of <STRING> with <REPLACEMENT>. The construct: ${VARIABLE//<STRING>/<REPLACEMENT>} does almost the same, but will replace all instances of <STRING> with <REPLACEMENT>.
