Server use cases are different than desktop use cases. As a result of being in the server market, it *is* targeted for rootkits. That's why we have rkhunter. IMHO, the biggest danger is thinking the systems are invulnerable to attack. That's a HUGE mistake to make - because when you get to the point of being all cocky about "my system can't be hacked", someone will prove you wrong. That's the worst kind of hubris there is from a systems standpoint.
