Hi all, Some years ago, I tried KMail and did not like it for various reasons and went to the Netscape/Mozilla packages and eventually to Thunderbird. Generally I am happy with TBird, but during the conversion from PMMail to TBird for my friend, I found it necessary to explore other options for her because TBird simply made it too hard to do the import. She had been using PMMail as a kind of a database program (which it could do with mail objects) and conversion of her contacts list and message base has proved very difficult. During the exploration, I reexamined KMail and found that it is able to import the raw messages from PMMail without any problem IF I import just one folder at at time and move the messages into the KMail structure manually. TBird imported the same files as a Directory folder containing one *.MSG message which I had to move individually and then delete the folder which was difficult because TBird would not allow multiple folders to be selected. Because hundreds or thousands of messages were involved, that proved to be just too much like work <me lazy>. So, I switched her to KMail and even found a way to export the PMMail contact list (still working on how to set all the 'categories' automatically depending on the original 'List' from PMMail, but that is another issue. The above is just an update for those of you that sent in some real significant help to me regarding this issue previously. Now for the real problem that remains and it doesn't involve PMMail at all, only KMail (or perhaps FireFox). Anytime she presses a URL in an EMAIL message to launch FireFox, it correctly does this EXCEPT that it launches it in the SAME WINDOW as KMAIL.... EVEN IF FIREFOX is ALREADY RUNNING in another window. If FF is already running, it 'steals' that session and moves it from whatever session window it was in to the session window that KMail is open in. In order to get it back, she has to move FFox to the original desktop window manually. As she often is using several desktops for various applications, browser, mail, editing documents, etc., it is disconcerting to have her browser 'jump' to her mail desktop. I have looked for and cannot find a way to prevent this behavior. TBird DOES NOT do this, So far, only KMail 'steals' the session from the desktop FFox was in and slaps it into the same desktop as the one KMail is running in. I am pretty sure that if I had not had a stroke and my mental facility was up to speed, I might have already figured this out, but after a week of looking I seem no closer to finding the 'switch' to turn off this behavior in KMail. She is using Linux 10.3 with the Kmail 3.5.7 version release 72.6 I do not want to 'upgrade' to KDE4 stuff until it is *way* more stable than it is, especially with no guarantee that it would behave differently in this matter. In all other respects, it is running better than expected, well enough in fact for me to convert from TBird to KMail on my home system <grin>. Any help would be appreciated.
