based on what I see (in 10.3) it seems that opensuse's bootloader isn't a plain grub and doesn't use /boot/grub/menu.lst: if I modify entries in menu.lst I don't see the changes in the menu.
How can I eradicate the package that shows suse's green menu and use exclusively grub?
We use the normal grub. If your changes have no effect, you edited the wrong menu.lst.
Steffen Or he edited grub as a user and when you save it nothing is changed. He must edit it as root or su.
