What I didn't found: Does VirtualBox support snapshotting? If yes, once or multiple times? USB support is mentioned -- USB 1 or USB 2? How stable is USB 2, e.g., if one wants use iTunes for an iPod?
I have managed to connect an iPOD to iTunes running in Windows under OpenSuSE 10.3. Identify the iPOD in the settings section of VirtualBox. After starting VB and connecting the iPOD, iTunes recognises it,
Did you really work with it and downloaded a few 100 MBs of music to it? I have only experience with the VMware products. There, VMware Server provides USB 1. An iTunes in that VM detects the iPod, initializes it, but bombs out regularly while updating the music. Whereas, on VMware Workstation -- providing USB 2 -- it works as expected. Someday, I'll have to investigate the new 0.6.0 libgpod which is supposed to support the iPod Classic after some initial setup work to calculate the firewire ID. But I'll probably need to have a free weekend for that, my partner won't accept if I left her iPod unusable after making some experiments with it... ;-) Cheers, Joachim -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Joachim Schrod Email: jschrod@acm.org Roedermark, Germany -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
