Hi,
I'm using 10.1 and lilo.
How can I switch to grub (i have grub-0.97-14 installed)?
In yast only the lilo configuration seems to appear,
thank you Marcel
Sure, see:
http://www.enterprisenetworkingplanet.com/netos/article.php/3340051 http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/html_node/Installing-GRUB-using-grub...
basically, follow the advise of backing up your mbr contained in the article, then simply install grub on your boot drive/device/partition. If you have a separate /boot partition, it is usually:
# grub-install --root-directory=/boot /dev/hda
if not, then:
# grub-install /dev/hda
And.. yes, you can make the change with Yast. See Yast->System->Boot Loader. (I don't have 10.1, but it is there in 10.2 or 10.3)
The console yast in 10.1 did not offer me the change to GRUB but the yast2 GUI offered it. But this did hang forever with y2base CPU load of 100%. So i edited my own /boot/grub/menu.lst and registered it with grub-install --root-directory=/boot /dev/sda as you recommended - and this worked.
