Why did you install xampp ? I installed mysql, apache, php alone using the package manager and all works fine.
I was thinking of installing Joomla (content management system). Their instructions implied that it would be much easier to install Joomla using xampp. xampp docs also said that xampp had been tested with OpenSUSE. I anticipated about a 30 min install. Ha! FWIW, I've decided to restore the original OpenSUSE installation.

I found Drupal (http://drupal.org) functioned without too much pain, (Midgard I would not bother with at moment, it is on the Build Service somwhere but I could never get it to work). - -- ============================================================================== I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
